Panasonic Computer Products Europe
In keeping with the Matsushita Group concept of the simplification of management structures, the company investigated the benefits of separating the PC business within Europe away from the Business Systems Divisions of the various Panasonic companies within the continent. In April 2004, MEI established a 'domain' management structure (Panasonic Computer Products Europe) allowing better control of product and financial management.
To endorse the establishment of this structure, PCPE's Managing Director, Keith Evans (formerly Head of the UK Toughbook Division) has managed huge investments sanctioned by the board members of MEI to improve and expand the services and capabilities of Toughbook provision and support within Europe over the past two years. These investments include in excess of €1M iin the development of a Siebel-based Customer Relationship Management system based at the company's European Service Centre in Cardiff and the establishment of specific Service, Technical Support and Project Management functions within the structure.
The instigation and ongoing development of this organisation has allowed Panasonic to simplify the decision making processes, offer a more diverse yet more focussed range of services and, with the establishment of a Build to Order process, a quicker and more defined product provision to its customers.
