Sporting analytics specialist ups its game

Sports intelligence company STATS has launched a player tracking system incorporating what it calls a “revolutionary 50-Hz sampling frequency” to provide real time on-pitch performance metrics.

According to the company, STATS GPS enables the monitoring of up to 100 participants, as well as offering around 300 separate metrics. The solution is mounted in ‘GPS vests.’

Speaking of the product, STATS chief global officer Ryan Paterson said: “Teams and conditioning coaches need the latest technology to ensure players stay at peak health and fitness during long seasons.

“STATS GPS allows teams to monitor player performance with customisable metrics like accelerations and decelerations, energy expenditure, count of zone entries, and time, distance and power thresholds.”

Pete Atkinson, head of performance at the Italian Rugby Federation said: “Objectively monitoring players in training and in-match is essential for us in order to optimally prepare them and mitigate injury risk. We are working closely with STATS to target individual players’ needs utilising the latest technology.”

Information provided by the solution is scrutinised remotely using online portal, STATS Dynamix.
