Sky not the limit for Zinwave

Zinwave has deployed its UNItivity distributed antenna system to provide coverage at media company Sky’s new headquarters in Osterley, West London.

According to the company, the UNItivity was chosen because of its ability to support a variety of mobile operators and services, as well as multiple frequencies. It can also be implemented without hardware replacements or cabling refits, while simultaneously providing consistent coverage inside metal lifts.

Work in the 46,000 square meter new headquarters takes place across multiple floors, with the structure itself built using a variety of dense materials. The facility includes office space, a studio, production facilities, together with research and development areas.

Sky’s planning and delivery manager (network implementation) Martin Eddleston said: “Sky had the foresight to install single operator DAS in our existing buildings on campus. When it came to our new Sky Central building however, we wanted multi-operator coverage to cope with user volumes and multiple mobile network operators throughout this much larger building.”

Scott Willis, CEO of Zinwave said: “We are extremely pleased that Sky has been able to eliminate all mobile ‘not-spots’ using our in-building wireless solution. Dense building materials are a common barrier for mobile signals, something which can cause problems in a world that increasingly relies on ubiquitous coverage.”

The solution was scoped, installed and commissioned by Herbert in-building wireless.
