Nokia launches 5G network slicing product

Nokia has announced cloud-native Digital Operations Center software to help drive the monetisation of 5G.

According to Nokia, the purpose of the software is to give communication service providers “new revenue-enhancing opportunities with an automated platform that manages 5G slice-based services securely and cost effectively throughout the entire lifecycle of services.” It is the company's first 5G network slicing management product.

The new solution is modular and includes both Nokia’s Orchestration Center and Assurance Center products. It’s designed to "enable the delivery of network slices at scale, via closed loop automation."

Speaking of the solution, chief product officer at Nokia Software, Brian McCann said: “Nokia Digital Operations Center is an important step to making the full set of network slicing capabilities available for providers, as we move from the consumer aspect of 5G to [its] enterprise and industrial side. Digital Operations Center encompasses a full menu of capabilities - all built on Nokia’s common software foundation - to give our customers full flexibility and agility.”

A spokesperson for the company said: “By closing the loop between traditionally separate fulfilment and assurance processes, providers can intelligently manage the full-service lifecycle.”

Nokia aims to make its Digital Operations Center available at scale by the end of the year.
