Ranplan appoints new CSO and commercial operations director

Ranplan Group AB has appointed Jon Ullmark, a specialist in the field of IoT and automation, as its chief strategy officer (a new position), effective from 1 September. Earlier this week, Ranplan also announced that it has recruited Anthony Sutton to the newly created role of commercial operations director.

Ullmar joins Ranplan from Hoylu where he was its deputy CEO and general manager for EMEA. He has previously held senior leadership roles at Semcon (area manager), C Security Systems (CEO) and Pilotfish Marine (Acting CEO).

"A recognised expert tasked with the commercialisation of artificial intelligence, machine learning and automation, Jon comes on board at a defining moment for Ranplan,” said Per Lindberg, Ranplan Group AB’s interim CEO. “We are now most evidently taking steps in the development of our organisation to help our customers unleash the full potential of 5G, characterised by cloud-native solutions, open interfaces and embedded intelligence, paving the way for the complete integration of our state-of-the-art components within the realm of customers’ network managing systems."

Turning to Anthony Sutton’s (pictured right) appointment as commercial operations director, he will be based in Cambridge UK and his remit will cover all the company’s global commercial activities,

Sutton brings with him more than 20 years’ experience in international sales and marketing in the telecommunications industry, covering the Americas, the Middle East, Europe and the Far East. He recently served as VP sales and marketing at Cobham Wireless in the UK, prior to which he held senior sales and marketing roles at Aerial Facilities, Axell Wireless, Ampheno Jaybeam and Megger (formerly AVO).

“I’m thrilled to be joining Ranplan at this exciting time. I will be working hard with the global team to identify and capitalise on new commercial opportunities and develop new solutions to support our ecosystem of customers,” said Sutton.

“We are delighted to add Anthony to our executive leadership team,” said Lindberg. “His wealth of international experience, deep customer know-how and solid management skills come at a defining moment for the industry at large, characterised by febrile activities in advance of the mass-scale deployment of 5G networks, designed to cater for a full spectrum of novel applications, all of which will benefit from the leading expertise, products and services that Ranplan provides.”
