Sepura brings in Brooks to grow international sales

Radio manufacturer Sepura has announced the appointment of a new international development manager to grow its global critical communications business under new owners Epiris.

Former Tyco, NesscoInvsat and TransTel Engineering global sales manager Derek Brooks will take over the new role with the aim of growing Sepura’s share of the global critical communications market.

Commenting on his new role, Brooks said: “I am delighted to take on this role with such a trusted supplier to the industry. Sepura has a strong relationship with its partners, working with them to drive growth wherever opportunities exist, and I look forward to working with our teams to further this.”

Within previous roles Brooks has worked with major international system integrators to deploy complex telecoms networks into oil and gas refineries, petro-chemical plants and other critical national infrastructure organisations.

Brooksjoins fellow recent appointment Rob Merrick with the goal to grow the company’s sales of broadband products which the company said will “help support critical communications users deploy powerful, flexible Sepura solutions”.

Sepura was recently acquired by London-based private equity group Epiris from Hytera Communications.

Terence Ledger, worldwide sales director at Sepura, said: “We are really pleased to have added Derek’s experience to our global sales team.

“The sale of Sepura to Epiris has allowed us to look at markets that we know are significant areas of growth for critical communications. This includes new metros, airports and other transport infrastructure, utilities and oil and gas plants and of course with our core market in public safety. Derek will be crucial to building relationships with partners in these regions and growing our customer base around the world.”
