NRC – A winning formula

NRC’s DigiX range offers two-way radio resellers a potent new tool in the battle to preserve margins and win new business.

The life of a two-way radio reseller isn’t easy. All too often it’s possible to find yourself fighting with your peers for the same business with the same products. Margins are often the first casualty in this war for tenders and they can suffer further given the need to sell enough radios to keep the prestige associated with the highest tiers of manufacturer accreditations.

But what if there was another way? One that allowed you to be more competitive on price while also increasing your margins? Sounds good to be true? Well, it’s not. NRC’s DigiX range of DMR and PTT over Cellular (PoC) products enables you to do both. As we’re effectively a manufacturer and distributor in one and don’t have major manufacturers’ large overheads, we can pass the cost-savings onto our resellers while still providing end-users with proven high-quality and feature-rich products.

Like you, we’ve witnessed the race to the bottom triggered by the rise of internet selling – all too often end-users come to us having bought products from online stores that don’t meet their requirements. That’s why we’re only looking to partner with two-way radio resellers that are committed to properly engaging with their customers, carrying out onsite surveys, identifying their needs and then providing them with bespoke solutions that meet all their requirements. We want resellers that have technically minded salespeople and we believe that the margins we provide help make this approach a sustainable one.

Our products are manufactured in China and we’re very proud of this – given our close working relationship with our Chinese partners (who are members of the DMR Association), the leaps and bounds they’ve made in recent years and their extensive use of the latest manufacturing techniques and test & measurement equipment. We regularly visit their factories and we handle all the localisation on their behalf. We also ensure that all our two-way radio products meet the requirements of both the DMR standard and the Radio Equipment Directive (RED).

Tried and tested products

It’s worth noting here that these are tried and tested products – we’ve been selling them to end-users for years and without them and the competitive prices they command, we won’t have the sales volumes we have today. The DigiX portfolio has continued to increase as we provide a wider choice of equipment and DigiX sales for the last year grew by approximately 38 per cent. We anticipate in 2020 our new range of products will again provide good growth in this competitive sector and it’s an excellent opportunity for our dealers to take advantage of this.

But you don’t have to take our word for it – here’s what Pip Atkinson (shown above) at National Trust site Sizergh Castle, one of our established customers, has to say.

“NRC made the transaction from our old radios to our new digital radios so easy for all the staff here at Sizergh castle. From the moment we enquired about updating our radio system the customer service was excellent, they were incredibly friendly and we never felt pressured to buy. Paula Boyd, NRC’s national sales manager [at NRC], visited our site more than once, fi rstly to look at our old radios and advise the best new ones and to ensure the radios met our specifi c site needs. She then even came to check that everything we received was satisfactory and working perfectly alongside our older radios. Their follow up care has been fantastic, I always feel like they’re just a call or email away if we need any help at all, and they are more than happy to answer any of our queries.

“The products themselves are also brilliant. The signal on the digital radios works really well over a long distance which is perfect for our garden staff and when staff are out on the wider estate. No matter where the staff are located, we can always get in touch and the radio communication always comes over loud and clear. We were so impressed we have even recommended NRC to a number of people in and out of the trust and are even investing in more products ourselves. Overall the radios provided and the customer service we received is 10/10. Thank you again NRC.”

Supporting your business

We are dedicated to providing our customers with the best products for their needs and we want our resellers to do the same. That’s why we want people who are going to properly engage with and support their customers. To ensure you can do this effectively, we will always provide in-depth training on our products alongside sales and customer service advice as well as always keeping you up-to-date on any new products or developments.

Given our unique nature, we can offer a fast turnaround on repairs, parts and technical advice as we not only design and manufacture the products but actually have many years’ experience in the radio communications field having been radio resellers, distributors and repairers ourselves for decades. As we are looking to distribute our own brand products, we can provide our resellers with any radios or parts incredibly fast and are always here to off er any technical or sales advice they need. While resellers with a strong technical background can easily start selling the DigiX range, we also can provide a great deal of assistance to those with less in the way of technical resource – be it helping them program radios or even install infrastructure, if needed.

All our DigiX radios are designed by us with users in mind. Over the years we have seen what works and what it is customers want and need in their PMR and PoC devices. We have used this experience to develop a range of highperforming digital radios that are ideally suited for a range of diff erent industries, without the huge price tag. Each of our handsets are extremely robust, off er a range of connection options and have a set of features which make them ideal for the sector they’re intended for.

2020 is looking to be a good year for all, as we now have our dedicated PoC server, platform and equipment. It is clear to see that it is the Chinese manufacturers leading the way with this technology and most of them are concentrating their eff orts on PoC for a growing worldwide market. The UK has been slow to take up this new technology which has seen immense growth in many other countries but we believe that the UK market for PoC will flourish especially with the introduction of 5G.

Our DMR equipment has, as standard, the features that are normally required by dealers including Emergency caller, Caller identity, Private and Group calling etc. but and our new range of equipment is fully featured with GPS, Lone worker, Man down and, AES working in both, DMR and NXDN.

NRC is a long-established family run business. Founded in 1989, NRC has gone from strength to strength over the past 30 years. Run by Paul Kenealy and his wife Teresa, who actually met at a two-way radio exhibition, they are both incredibly passionate about what they do and providing the best quality products and customer service, at cost effective prices. They have both been working in the radio communications industry since they were just teenagers and have years of experience and expertise. Keen on progression and standing out amongst the rest, NRC has become a major force in the UK as a supplier of all communication products, and a well-known and trusted name.

“Now that we’ve mastered the art of delivering DMR and PoC products in a highly competitive and affordable manner, we’re now turning our attention to new technologies. That’s why we’re on the lookout for resellers with the right attitude and approach to sales that can quickly grasp their value to end-users,” says Paul. “We are committed to helping our resellers and distributors become successful by providing them with any information, product training and support they need to sell DigiX products effectively.”
