Hamburg future-proofs emergency services control room

According to the company, the technology will enable “uniform communication across telephone and digital radio” as well as preparing the services for “the future integration and use of multimedia content.”

The solution will be deployed across two central data/control centres, accommodating around 220 workstations. It will integrate with Hamburg’s pre-existing computer aided dispatch and geographical information systems.

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany after Berlin, with a population of approximately 1.8 million people. According to statistics provided by Frequentis, its fire and police service deal with more than one million incoming calls every year.

Discussing the decision to roll-out the technology, group leader of the Hamburg control room renewal project (PERLE) Eiko Hinrichs said: “We were impressed with the innovative solution concept that Frequentis demonstrated to us, especially the multimedia functionality.

“It gives us a great pleasure to gain [the company] as a very experienced and reliable partner for the implementation of our new communication system.”
