Motorola equips Bosch test facility

Motorola Solutions has provided Bosch with a suite of LEX L10 LTE handheld terminals for its automotive proving ground in Boxberg, Germany. The facility has also been equipped with a proving ground management system (PGMS) by Motorola’s partner, mm-lab

According to the company, the PGMS integrates management processes at the site, as well as monitoring test tracks and integrating text and voice communications. The Motorola LEX L10s meanwhile connect ground operators and test drivers via a private LTE network.

Motorola’s corporate vice president of sales Mark Schmidl said: “We see a growing demand for customised mobile applications. Companies like Bosch that are looking to meet highly dynamic requirements, where reliable communication through broadband networks is key.”

Managing director of the Boxberg site, Michael Gromig said: “Thanks to the new proving ground management system provided by mm-lab and Motorola Solutions, we have implemented a state-of-the-art solution that increases the safety of our test drivers, reduces administration and accelerates the smooth realisation of our processes.”

Bosch operates nine proving grounds on four continents including Vaitoudden in Sweden, and Yakeshi in Inner Mongolia.
