New WatchGuard cloud tech

WatchGuard Technologies has announced its new secure Wi-Fi management platform, WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud.

Used in conjunction with two newly-developed access points, the platform automatically classifies devices, shutting down those trying to use it without authorisation.

WatchGuard's wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) also pinpoints the locations of those using the access points – legitimately or otherwise – as well as sources of interference.

According to WatchGuard, its Wi-Fi Cloud can turn Wi-Fi hot spots into consumer research, analytics and push marketing tools and can display the gatherered information on customisable dashboards.

Director of wireless products at WatchGuard, Ryan Orsi, said: “We’ve developed a comprehensive solution that dramatically simplifies how businesses deploy and manage wireless, while at the same time elevating Wi-Fi security standards.

“In addition to security, the WatchGuard Wi-Fi Cloud makes it easier for organisations to turn Wi-Fi into an extension of their brand, an interactive experience for their customers and a powerful analytics tool.”
