Chinese tech giant demonstrates IoT commitment

IoT technology consortium the Z-Wave Alliance has added Huawei to its board of directors. The company joins other industry heavyweights including ADT, Alarm.com, FIBARO and Ingersoll-Rand.

Speaking of the move, Z-Wave Alliance executive director Mitchell Klein said: "Huawei has long been an active member of the alliance, and joining the board of directors demonstrates its commitment to the growth of IoT in the smart home.”

Huawei marketing director Yang Qin said: "Z-Wave is a very important technology for the smart home and other vertical industries. Joining the alliance is important for Huawei to promote the Z-Wave technology widely-used in the Internet of Things industry."

The Z-Wave Alliance numbers over 600 members worldwide, and has certified around 2100 smart home devices. Other current members Aeon Labs, Leedarson and Fibaro are part of Huawei's OceanConnect pre-integrated IoT ecosystem.
