WND UK to host Sigfox application hackathon
WND UK, one of the UK’s two Sigfox network operators, will host a two-day, hands-on workshop at Sci-Tech Daresbury in Cheshire for businesses wishing to learn more about how Sigfox, a low powered wide area network (LPWAN) communications protocol, can be developed for commercial business applications
In conjunction with the Science & Technology Facilities Council Hartree Centre and Internet of Things (IoT) technology company, WaveReach Ltd, the free event, funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the LCR 4.0 programme, will take place from 10:00 to 16:00 on 4-5 October 2017.
Neal Forse, CEO and founder of WND UK, commented: “The event will be invaluable for businesses and entrepreneurs that may have ideas for a Sigfox application but require technical assistance with implementing them. Dedicated Sigfox trainers and staff from Hartree Centre will be on hand throughout the two days to offer their technical expertise.
Forse continued: “As the UK’s primary Sigfox network operator we have adopted a dynamic rollout strategy which allows us to prioritise base station deployments to meet customer demand. Our approach is key to enabling widespread adoption of Sigfox, which will be a key driver for IoT applications.”
Tom Kirkham, business development manager at STFC Hartree Centre commented: “Sci-Tech Daresbury is home to the Hartree Centre’s IoT testbed which offers companies the ability to test their applications within a campus environment using the latest technologies in both IoT and supporting data-centric technologies. The Sigfox workshop will be a hands-on opportunity to create applications from scratch and test them within the campus using emerging LPWAN technology.”
