Vodafone engineer makes satellite broadband call

AST SpaceMobile and Vodafone have completed a space-based 5G voice call, in what the latter company has claimed to be a world first.

British military leverages LEO connectivity

The crew of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Argus is using internet with coverage provided by low Earth orbit satellite. The technology was supplied by OneWeb, in collaboration with its distribution partner Airbus.

Satellite giant signs MoU

Satellite specialist Intelsat has signed a memorandum of understanding with software-defined/optical networking comms company, Aalyria. The MoU includes “financial commitments to advance the development of a new optical technology that will transfer record amounts of data between ground and space.”
