Lebara, which specialises in pay-as-you-go and contract-based mobile SIM cards, will support the national governing body of swimming, water polo and synchronised swimming on journey to Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
According to British Swimming chief executive Jack Buckner “staying connected is crucial to training, preparation, and competition performance”. Lebara claimed that since starting a partnership in 2020, the two brands have “found synergy in their focus on developing a spirit of community, high performance and flexibility”.
Buckner said: "It is fantastic that we are able to continue this valuable partnership with Lebara over the next three years, which are set to be busy. It’s an exciting time for our sports, in and out of the water.
"Lebara share similar core values in everything they do. Our athletes and teams have brilliantly shown their ability to be flexible in an ever-changing aquatics landscape in recent times. In those aspects, we are absolutely joined up - and we look forward to strengthening our relationship moving forward.”
Team GB swimmers achieved the most successful Olympics in British Swimming’s history at last year’s Tokyo Olympic Games. Team GB finished third in the swimming medal table behind the US and Australia in Tokyo having won eight medals including a haul of four golds, beating the UK’s previous best performance, at the 1908 Games in London.
Medal performances in Tokyo included gold and a world record in the first ever Olympic mixed 4x100m medley relay, a historic gold and silver for Tom Dean and Duncan Scott in the 200m freestyle and gold for Adam Peaty in the 100m breaststroke, which saw him become the first Briton to defend an Olympic swimming title.
The expanded partnership with British Swimming marks a second major agreement for Lebara this week having agreed a deal with Rewire, the first digital financial services platform for migrant workers worldwide.
As part of this deal, Lebara customers in the UK will have access to remittance services powered by Rewire and Rewire will provide SIM cards powered by Lebara to its customers.
